Do your dry eye disease (DED) patients always seem tired? BMC Ophthalmology recently released a study that reveals why.
Specifically, there is a link between DED and poor subjective sleep quality, longer sleep latency, and a higher risk of unhealthy sleep duration, such as insufficient sleep or excessive sleepiness, according to the study, which appears in the April 2024 issue of the journal.1
The researchers arrived at these conclusions after assessing 21 observational studies comprised, in part, of 152,567 patients ages 18 or older who were diagnosed with DED or Sjögren’s syndrome.
