• Aldeyra Therapeutics announced the resubmission of an NDA to the FDA for topical ocular reproxalap, an investigational new drug candidate, for the treatment of signs and symptoms of dry eye disease (DED). In August, Aldeyra reported the primary endpoint in a phase 3 dry eye chamber clinical trial of reproxalap in patients with DED was achieved — statistically superior to vehicle for the prespecified primary endpoint of ocular discomfort (P=.004).
• BioTissue introduced the CAM360 AmnioGraft (CAM360 AG), a hydrated, shelf-stable cryopreserved amniotic membrane solution. CAM360 AG is ideal for patients who have mild to moderate DED and other ocular surface conditions. CAM360 AG is a ringless CAM that does not require refrigeration. CAM360 AG’s adhesive properties ensure that the CAM stays in place under a bandage contact lens.
• Bruder Healthcare, a Hilco Vision Company, entered into an exclusive distribution agreement with Santen S.A. to market Eyeleve MGD in the U.S. in early 2025. The eyedrop formulation was previously marketed in the U.S. as Retaine MGD. The preservative-free ophthalmic emulsion provides moisturization, lubrication, and protection for moderate-to-severe evaporative dry eye.
• Eversight announced a 4-year partnership with LighTopTech that aims to improve imaging modalities for eye tissues in both clinical and research settings. Eversight will integrate LighTopTech’s dual modality OCX system — combining optical coherence tomography (OCT) with optical coherence microscopy — into its research and development initiatives. The integration of the imaging system is aimed at enhancing corneal tissue evaluations in Eversight’s eye bank operations.
• Johnson & Johnson is expanding the roll-out of its latest advancement in presbyopia-correcting IOLs (PC-IOL), TECNIS Odyssey, in the U.S. The full visual range IOL offers patients continuous full range of vision — they can see clearly from far to near and in between, minimizing their need for glasses. The IOL was built with proprietary technology, delivering sharp vision in challenging lighting conditions. The design delivers fewer visual disturbances for enhanced night-time visual quality.
• Oertli Instrumente AG announced FDA 510(k) clearance for the Faros anterior cataract surgery system. The system offers a compact design and rapid operational readiness, requiring minimal space in operating rooms. The Faros system is optimized for fast setup, with a readiness time of under one minute, making it ideal for integrating into office-based surgery. Its precision in fluid or vacuum control enables adaptability to different cataract hardness.
• Visionix USA introduced a topography module to its next-generation Optovue Solix FullRange and Solix Essential optical coherence tomographer (OCT) and OCT angiographer systems. Features include corneal measurements for contact lens fitting and refractive surgery planning; detailed topography and epithelial analysis; and OCT topography.
• The ZEISS CIRRUS 6000, from ZEISS Medical Technology, is now supported by one of the largest OCT reference databases in the U.S. market, as well as newly enhanced cybersecurity features. The ZEISS CIRRUS 6000 reference database now offers a comprehensive library of 870 healthy eyes, taking into account different optic disc sizes in addition to age.
