            Here’s a brief synopsis of No. 2: Wisdom From the Surgical Wizards.
 
• ICL Pearls and Pitfalls. In this video, Jonathan Solomon, MD, provides his pearls and pitfalls regarding phakic IOLs. Specifically, he looks at two FDA-approved IOLs —the Verisyse (Johnson and Johnson) and the Visian ICL (Staar Surgical) — discussing their differences, and appropriate situations for their use. Additionally, Dr. Solomon addresses scenarios that may be encountered.
 
• Future Directions in Endothelial Keratoplasty. Here, Deepinder Dhaliwal, MD, LAc, discusses the possibilities in the future of endothelial keratoplasty. Specifically, she explains there are techniques that may replace current procedures that would not require donor tissue. These include Descemet stripping only (DSO) with an adjuvant, injection of endothelial cells, and the use of an artificial endothelial layer. Additionally, Dr. Dhaliwal provides important tips, such as why DSO should only be used in patients who have good vision in their fellow eye.
 
• My Most Complicated Case: Saving the Anterior Segment. Here, Soosan Jacob, MS, FRCS, L.Ac, details of one of her most complicated cases: A patient who presented with a drop in vision and a recurrent bulging. How did she handle it? Check out the video!
 
• Q&A. To close the session, moderator Kendall Donaldson, MD, MS, selected from numerous audience questions to stir a little more discussion from the panelists about phakic IOLs, a timeline for the future of EK, and corneal tissue.
